Win in FA Cup would be boost for Tigers side

A section of supporters have voiced their discontent at the poor start to the season, but boss Simon Clark has insisted there is no crisis.

When asked if he felt under more pressure after Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at North Ferriby United, Clark said: “No, absolutely not.”

“I understand the supporters and their frustrations, but in the first six games we’re finding out feet and promotions and seasons aren’t decided in the first six games.”

“I see bits of signs that we’re starting to knit, we just need our players who aren’t in form to step up.”

“Friday is the FA Cup, it’s a great day to play, we had a cup run last year and we want another one this year.”

The manager blamed two individual errors for Tuesday night’s loss, but also expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of his strikeforce, Leon Mettam and Bruno Holden.

“It’s two mistakes, two goals. For the first one, Shielsy has got to put it up the pitch. Why is he trying to do a little drag back 20 yards out?”

“Hawesy in the second half tries a little drag, gets caught. He should leave it in an area we can cope with and get set.”

“Without those two mistakes it’s a 0-0 game.”

“My nine and 10 are both below par. Mettam is sulking and Bruno gets a bang on the head after five minutes, and he’s struggled.”

“We have to do better, in both boxes.”

He confirmed that the club are trying to bring in another striker, although the player won’t be signed in time to face Frickley tonight.

Luke Shiels is also unlikely to feature after being stretchered off on Tuesday with suspected medial ligament damange in his knee.
