Welsh wing wizard Warlow wins fans over

ANY doubts Worksop fans may have had over Owain Warlow will be a distant memory after his performance on Tuesday night.

The Welshman tormented Frickley, setting up Jamie Jackson and scoring a goal good enough to grace any big stadium.

His Worksop Town career began in October against Nantwich, and although he came in for some criticism initially, he proved himself as the season wore on with consistent performances.

And he saved his very best for last at Hillsborough in the Sheffield Senior Cup final.

“I’m on cloud nine,” he told the Guardian after the game.

“It’s brilliant, playing here at Hillsborough. If you can’t get yourself up for games like this, in this stadium. It’s unbelievable.”

The former Gainsborough Trinity left sided player was happy with his own contribution in the final, and pleased for his team-mates to capture some silverware.

He said: “I’m pretty pleased on a personal note, but more importantly for the lads.”

“It’s been a difficult season, we didn’t finish it as well as we’ve liked but results didn’t match performances.”

Warlow, capped at Under 21 level for Wales, had nothing but good things to say about Worksop Town Football Club – hinting perhaps that he’d like to extend his stay at Sandy Lane.

“It’s a good set up. I’ve enjoyed every minute,” he said.

“I’ve been playing regularly. I had a bit of a bedding in period, maybe the fans didn’t take to me at first.”

“But once you start working hard and playing well they’ll back you.”

“It’s a great club, great fans and long may we continue having success like this.”
