Triple signing for Tigers

Czech goalkeeper Jan Zolna has joined the club from Wakefield FC, while 20-year-old midfielder Alastair Taylor has been brought in on loan from Barnsley and Gainsborough Trinity left-back Owain Warlow in on loan for a month.

Right-sided player Taylor has made three first team appearances for Barnsley since his debut in April.

Tomorrow will see new manager Simon Clark take charge in his first competitive game at the club, a week after being appointed Tigers boss.

The gaffer told the Guardian why he’d brought in another goalkeeper in Zolna: “Jon Worsnop has good pedigree but I understand he’s made quite a few errors recently and people have to learn to play under pressure.”

“The shirt is not theirs, that’s important.”

“But we’ll back him, we’ll back the players if they give us their all.”

While Clark takes over a big squad with a number of players on contract, he told the Guardian the chairman has given him time to sort out who he wants to keep.

“I’ve already said the lads will get a fair crack of the whip,” he said.

“But I’ve had a long chat with the chairman and I have a deadline to reduce the squad. The chairman has been great, initially he gave me two weeks but I’ve asked for six and he’s agreed.”
