Trinity drawn to revisit Stockport in the FA Cup

Gainsborough Trinity will get the chance to avenge September’s 3-1 defeat at Stockport County when the two sides meet again at Edgeley Park in the FA Cup.

The Blues have been drawn away at County for the third qualifying round of the world famous competition.

Steve Housham’s men booked their date with Stockport with a 2-0 win over Northern Premier side Rushall Olympic on Saturday on the Northolme.

Goals from Darryn Stamp – his second in two games – and Liam Davis sealed the win, making it four matches unbeaten for Gainsborough.

They’ll travel to Stockport to battle it out for a place in qualifying round four, and £7,500 in prize money, on 12th October.

Before that, Housham and his men play host to Harrogate Town on Saturday.

Despite their poor start to the season, Trinity could join 12th-placed Harrogate on 10 points with a win this weekend.

Town themselves are out of the FA Cup, thanks to a 1-0 defeat at Colwyn Bay last weekend, and have recently been docked three points by the Conference North after fielding an ineligible player.
