Town lads in a semi-final

Dinnington Town Juniors are through to the semi-finals of the League Cup, after a 3-2 victory over Treeton Terriers.

Dinnington were awarded an early penalty for a handball in the box by Treeton and James Procter’s hit the outside of the post and went wide.

Dinnington went behind, but equalised straight from the kick-off as Louis Hellewell let’s shot hit the bar and Ben Howarth netted the rebound.

It was 2-1 to Town when Hellewell found James Fairbank, he flicked to Sam Eyong and he slotted home.

Treeton equalised from a corner midway through the second half as the ball was lofted to the far post where Matt Kriel did well to punch the ball clear, but from the resulting goal mouth scramble Treeton prodded the ball home.

But Fairbank smashed a half volley into the net, from Alex Elian’s free-kick for a dramatic winner.

Greg Melbourne got Dinnington Town Under 13s in a 1-1 draw with Greenhill.

Man of the Match went to Jay Merry.
