Dinnington Town bowed out of the Central Midlands League Cup at the second round stage, with a 3-0 defeat at Clay Cross Town.
They more than matched their hosts despite being reduced to 10 men on 34 minutes with the sending off of Taylor Dennis.
Chris Kirk fired just wide on 36 minutes with a long range effort, but Town were behind on 43 minutes.
A corner into the box was headed home by Ryan Ordidge who sent Clay Cross Town into the break a goal up.
The second half saw Dinnington again playing a good passing game, and they were unlucky to concede again on 53 minutes.
Cliff Jackson was judged to have picked up a back pass and Ordidge scored his second from the resulting free-kick.
The third goal followed when a corner from Tomas Poole allowed Ordidge to complete his hat -rick.
Despite this Dinnington didn’t let their heads drop and put in a good positive performance.
