Town boss manages from sick bed

STEVE Toyne may be seriously ill in hospital, but the Dinnington Town manager is still running the show from his sick bed.

Phoenix Park supremo Toyne is currently being treated in the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield for a number of health complaints.

But he told the Guardian this week that he still had his mind on the job.

People tell me that football takes a back seat, but it can’t, not for me,” he said.

“I’m a long distance manager, I’m just doing everything on the phone and keeping my finger on the pulse.”

Toyne said he was given a lift by Monday’s 1-0 victory over Askern Villa.

“That did me the world of good,” he said.

“I hear the lads all worked hard and we played 4-1-4-1 to stop conceding goals and it worked.”
