Tigers want JJ to stay

JAMIE Jackson will always be welcome at Worksop Town, as long as Simon Clark is in charge.

That was the manager’s statement this week as he works on his retained list from last season’s squad.

When asked if the signing of Bruno Holden meant Jackson would not be brought back, Clark said: “We’re still talking to him.”

“We need four strikers, our balance wasn’t right with what I left myself with last season.”

“I need good options up top, options to change things.”

“I want Jamie to stay, 100 per cent.”

“He will get offers from clubs higher up, for more money but he will always have a home at Worksop Town while myself and Dave Frecklington are here.”

“But there comes a time when we need to move on something.”

Clark has also hinted that Matt Young will be staying at the club.

Speaking on the similarities between new man Matt Telling and former Huddersfield Town player Young, he told the Guardian: “Before Christmas Matt was missing chances by miles, we spoke to him about being a little bit colder and passing the ball into the net.”

“I think he hit the post four or five times in March and April, but he will score goals next year.”

“I don’t see him as that silky one who’ll go past players all the time but he’s a decent passer.”

“He and Telling are footballers I can trust, they’re decent passers.”
