WORKSOP Town endured a day to forget at Sandy Lane yesterday, losing 3-0 to Marine and suffering a host of setbacks.
Two of the visitors’ goals came within two minutes and were both own goals, while a trio of players limped out to add to Martin McIntosh’s injury woes.
Adam Muller and Sam Duncum were passed fit to play, coming back from injuries sustained a week ago, but neither was able to complete the game and suffered knocks, along with striker Jamie Jackson.
Marine went ahead when Worksop skipper James Cotterill nodded past his own keeper on 11 minutes, his second own goal in a week.
Callum Williams then miscontrolled horribly at the back post 120 seconds later, scoring in his own net despite being under no pressure.
The third goal came from a poorly defended corner 10 minutes before the interval, Jon Shaw rising to head home via a deflection.
Worksop travel to Bradford Park Avenue tomorrow, for perhaps their toughest test of the season’s first five fixtures, having taken just one point from a possible 12.
