Tigers’ fans joy at stadium go ahead

WORKSOP Town fans were celebrating for the second time in 24 hours, with an off field victory on Thursday night giving them hope for the future.

The redevelopment of the Vesuvius site in the town by Commercial Estates Group, including a new stadium for Tigers, was given the green light by Bassetlaw Council’s planning committee.

A unanimous vote in favour of CEG’s plans allows club owner Jason Clark to start working in earnest towards a purpose built ground for Worksop Town, who are currently tenants at Sandy Lane.

Tigers are back in action on the pitch tomorrow at league leaders Chester.
