Tiger in new stripes has scored Allott of goals for Frickley side

The Frickley frontman featured briefly for Worksop last season, but by his own admission wasn’t fit enough to make an impact.

This season has been a different story, as he’s fired in 26 goals for Athletic, including five against Worksop Town.

Reflecting on his spell with Tigers, he told the Guardian: “I wasn’t at my best – it was a fitness thing, I hadn’t got many games under my belt when I came on loan from Guiseley.”

“It’s difficult when you go straight into a team, and Simon (Clark, Tigers boss) decided not to renew the loan, but I don’t blame him, I knew I wasn’t at my best.”

Although he insists there’s nothing personal about taking on Worksop now, the 26-year-old is enjoying showing off the skills he didn’t get to display at Sandy Lane last term.

“The goals I’ve scored against them don’t mean more than any other goals,” he said.

“But I like to do well against Worksop because I didn’t perform well there, the fans didn’t really take to me and it’s a chance for me to prove that I was good enough.”

His prolific form has attracted plenty of attention, including an approach from North Ferriby United earlier this season, but Allott has stayed loyal to the Frickley cause.

He explained: “I’ve known the boss for six years, he’s always looked after me and I’ve got a lot of friends at Frickley – and other clubs weren’t making massive offers.”
