Sheffield Wednesday: Owls chief plans to bide time

The Star understands the Thai businessman is in no rush to replace Roeder, who left yesterday after less than eight months at Hillsborough.

The former West Ham and Newcastle manager was initially brought in alongside Adam Pearson to work with Stuart Gray. Although Pearson left after three weeks and Gray was axed last summer, Roeder continued to focus specifically on football matters, playing a part in Wednesday’s hefty summer recruitment drive.

Roeder becomes the third person in just over a month to leave the management system following Paul Senior and Jonathan Hill exits.

Chansiri said he enjoyed working with Roeder but added: “I will continue to make the difficult decisions in the best interest of the club. The committee will continue to evolve, I therefore need to ensure it is populated with the best mix of expert advisors available to me which will result in periodical changes in personnel as the club progresses.

“I am confident that along with my network of trusted advisors the committee will continue to build on the success I believe we have already achieved as we approach the January transfer window.”

Owls’ trip to Hull has been brought forward 24 hours to Friday February 26 after being selected for TV coverage.
