The Cleveland-based official has dished out 38 bookings and one red card in 13 matches this season. It will be the first time Harrington has taken charge of an Owls match since April 2014 when Wednesday squandered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Charlton Athletic.

History lesson:

Wednesday have a good recent record against Birmingham City, losing just one of their last six meetings. You have to go back to 2006 for the last time the Blues triumphed at Hillsborough, recording a 3-0 success. Fourteen years ago, Birmingham won 1-0 away to the Owls on Boxing Day courtesy of a strike by Geoff Horsfield.

One to watch:

Spanish playmaker Jon Toral is someone Wednesday must keep a close eye on if they are to record back-to-back home wins. The young forward, on loan from Arsenal, has registered four goals for Birmingham, including two in his last three away matches. Has the ability to glide past defenders and unlock stubborn rearguards with his passing range and vision.
