Sheffield Wednesday could have three of their injured stars back for their forthcoming Hillsborough double-header.
Midfielder Jose Semedo, left-sided player Jeremy Helan and striker Will Keane are all edging closer to first-team returns after spells on the sidelines.
Semedo, who is out of contract in the summer, has missed the last five fixtures due to a foot problem he sustained against Blackburn Rovers last month.
Helan took no part in the Easter programme because of a groin knock while Manchester United loanee Keane (ankle) has been absent from the Owls’ last four Championship tussles.
With Claude Dielna ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after suffering a hamstring niggle in the Bank Holiday Monday loss at Norwich City, Wednesday chief Stuart Gray is hoping for a boost on the injury front as they prepare to entertain Charlton Athletic on Saturday followed by promotion-chasing Brentford next Tuesday.
Kamil Zayatte is expected to replace Dielna at centre-back versus the Addicks, meaning Dejan Kelhar is in the frame to be included in the match-day squad.
Wednesday collected one point out of a possible six over Easter and Gray expects his players to give Wednesdayites some belated home cheer.
“Charlton and Brentford are two difficult games but we have to start converting the clear cut chances we are creating,” he said.
Stevie May and Jacques Maghoma completed the full 90 minutes as Owls’ Under-21s lost 3-0 at home to Sheffield United yesterday.
