Owls boss Stuart Gray has today confirmed fans favourite Jose Semedo will have a pain-killing injection tomorrow in a bid to cure his foot problem.
Defensive midfielder Semedo has missed Wednesday’s last seven Championship fixtures because of the injury. The mid-table Owls have missed his steel and bite in the middle of the park.
Gray, speaking ahead of the midweek tussle with Brentford, said: “Semi’s foot is just not clearing up. We plan for him to have an injection tomorrow with a view to maybe pushing him on next week.”
It remains unclear when striker Will Keane, on loan from Manchester United, will make a first-team return. He is currently receiving treatment at Old Trafford for his ankle injury.
Caolan Lavery, Sergiu Bus and Lewis McGugan are all carrying minor niggles following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Charlton Athletic and head coach Gray has hinted he may rotate his squad against the seventh-placed Bees. Centre-back Dejan Kelhar and midfielder Filipe Melo could come into Gray’s thoughts as the Owls look to get back to winning ways in their own backyard.
He said: “We’ve got one or two players who are carrying knocks and strains so there probably will be a few changes.”
Gray is adamant he will stick by top-scorer Atdhe Nuhiu despite his glaring late miss versus the Addicks which could have clinched maximum points for the Owls.
“Attey is our top-scorer and is under contract for next year,” said Gray. “I will work with all the players who are under contract. It’s that time of year where people will speculate on who’s coming in and who’s going away.
“The most important thing come August 8 when next season starts is that we have got a competitive group of players who are going to push this team up to where we want to get to.”
