French defender Vincent Sasso has set his sights on earning a permanent move to Sheffield Wednesday.
Sasso moved to Hillsborough on a season long-loan deal from Portuguese club Sporting Clube de Braga last month.
Although he is contracted to Braga until the summer of 2017, the 24-year-old hopes his long-term future lies with Wednesday.
He told The Star: “I have signed for the season but I hope to make it permanent. I’m on loan but my aim is to have the best season possible to try and stay here.
“I feel really blessed to be part of this club and I want to do my best to stay here.”
Sasso is looking forward to the new campaign, saying he is fulfilling a lifelong dream by playing in England.
He is expected to shortly be joined at Wednesday by fellow defender Rhoys Wiggins. It is understood the Charlton Athletic left-back underwent a medical yesterday, with the two clubs having agreed a reported £750,000 fee.
Wiggins, who featured 21 times during the 2014/15 season, has slipped down the pecking order at The Valley with the emergence of Morgan Fox and head coach Guy Luzon moving for Morocco international Zakarya Bergdich last week.
The 27-year-old has recently recovered from an ankle problem he sustained in a friendly against Dulwich Hamlet.
