Are Sheffield Wednesday on the brink of being taken over?

A picture on social media has circulated suggesting Owls chairman Milan Mandaric and chief executive Paul Aldridge have met with the Thai consortium in Sheffield tonight.

The photo’s legitimacy has not been confirmed, but excited Wednesdayites have shared the picture online, implying a buyout could be getting nearer.

Discussions have taken place and remain on-going between the Owls and a Thai group understood to be interested in a reported £30m buyout of the Championship club.

The Star understands the investors are set to attend tomorrow’s game with Bolton Wanderers at Hillsborough.

Mandaric has been reluctant to reveal too much after the unwanted publicity surrounding Hafiz Mammadov’s failed buyout in September.

But, speaking to this newspaper, he said: “We are talking to very serious people and very good people. If it (takeover) happens, then great. It if doesn’t happen, it’s okay because we are in good shape.

“We have been talking to people but we have been talking to a lot of people. Nothing is over until it is over. It could be close. It could be miles away. We will see how it goes.”

If the picture is real, what do you think?
