Sheffield Wednesday have today bolstered their defence by capturing Braga defender Vincent Sasso.
The Frenchman, who began his career with Nantes, has moved to Hillsborough on a season-long loan deal, having passed a medical yesterday.
The 24-year-old becomes the Owls’ second summer signing. Darryl Lachman was purchased from FC Twente for an undisclosed fee last week.
Sasso, who can operate in central defence and at full-back, left France in 2012, joining S.C. Beira-Mar before earning a switch to Portuguese giants Braga the following January.
Capped twice at France Under-21 level, Sasso played five times for Braga last season.
He could line up against his former club next month as the Owls take on Braga in a pre-season friendly on Friday, July 24 as part of their warm-weather training in Portugal.
Meanwhile, Wednesday’s Yorkshire derby trip to Leeds United, schedule for Saturday, August 22, has been brought forward from 3.00pm to 12.30pm after being selected for Sky Sports coverage.
