Centre-back Tom Lees hopes Sheffield Wednesday pile more misery on Championship rivals Wolves this weekend.

Kenny Jackett’s side head to Hillsborough on Saturday aiming to end a five-match losing run. Their slump in fortunes leaves them in 13th position, one point and a place below the Owls in the standings.

And Lees is urging his teammates to show no mercy as they chase a third successive league victory.

He said: “We can’t underestimate Wolves. They might not be in the best of form but they have had some good results. and have been near the top of the table for a long time.

“It’s down to us to start brightly and put them under pressure because they will be under pressure at the moment.”

Lees, who is looking forward to their FA Cup third round tie at Manchester City, added: “The next three games are vital for us. If we can get a good haul from them, then we will give ourselves that chance in the second half of the season to be in contention.”

Wolves have been boosted by the news that winer Rajiv van La Parra’s red card against Bournemouth on Saturday has been rescinded, meaning he could line-up versus Wednesday.

However, they will be without the services of Matt Doherty, who’s suspension will stand after his stoppage-time red card. The defender was dismissed for a challenge on striker Brett Pitman.
