Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of winger Ross Wallace on a one-year deal.

The 30-year-old former Scotland international has arrived at Hillsborough after leaving Burnley at the end of last season.

Wallace made 15 Premier League appearances for the Clarets last season, starting one game. He also played the full 90 minutes of Burnley’s 1-0 defeat to Wednesday in the Capital One Cup second round.

He joined Burnley from Preston North End for an undisclosed fee in July 2010, going on to make 165 appearances for the Turf Moor club, scoring 14 goals.

Wallace began his career with Celtic, playing Champions League football for the Scottish giants before joining Sunderland in 2006.

He made 21 Premier League appearances for the Black Cats and played a further 32 games following relegation to the Championship.

Wallace’s arrival comes in a busy 24 hour period for the Owls after they snapped up goalkeeper Lewis Price on a free transfer.

The Owls are expected to confirm a one-year loan deal for Alex Lopez from Celta Vigo today.
