Sheffield Wednesday want to sign Sunderland centre forward Danny Graham on loan to bolster their strikeforce.
It is understood the Owls, who lock horns with Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, are willing to pay the 30-year-old’s wages in full. A new striker has been at the top of Wednesday’s wish list for some time.
Graham has been on Sunderland’s books since 2013 but has slipped down in the pecking order at the Stadium of Light.
Gateshead-born Graham has played for the Black Cats 34 times in all competitions, finding the back of the net just once. He has made four appearances this season, with his last outing coming in Sunderland’s 2-2 draw at Aston Villa where he was taken off at half-time.
The former Middlesbrough trainee was farmed out on loan to Wolves last term. He has also enjoyed temporary spells at Darlington, Derby, Leeds United, Blackpool, Carlisle, Hull City and Boro in his career.
