Sheffield Wednesday are in takeover talks with a Thai consortium, The Star can confirm.

It is understood the Thai group have been interested in investing in the Championship club for several months but, contrary to reports, a deal has yet to reach an advanced stage.

Owls chairman Milan Mandaric, who is currently away on business in the USA, has stated he is prepared to sell the club but only if the price is right.

In an interview with this newspaper in November, Mandaric said was still on the lookout for potential investors.

“There are a lot of people talking but nobody wants to put their money on the table and make an investment,” he said.

“I am on my own and we will see what happens. But things can change overnight.”

Mandaric was in discussions to sell the Owls last summer to Azerbaijani businessman Hafiz Mammadov, but the deal fell through in September after contracts had been exchanged.
