Injury-hit Sheffield Wednesday have today catptured Southampton winger Lloyd Isgrove on loan until the end of the season.
Isgrove, a product of the Saints’ fabled youth system, will wear shirt number 27 and could make his Owls debut in Saturday’s clash at South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United this weekend.
Although the 22-year-old penned a new two-year contract extension at Southampton yesterday, Isgrove has played just four times for the Premier League outfit this season. He came off the bench in their opening day defeat to Liverpool. His only Saints start came against Millwall in the Capital One Cup last August.
Isgrove, who enjoyed a loan spell at Peterborough United last season, making 12 appearances, has previously represented Wales at Under-21 level.
Southampton’s executive director Les Reed said: “This is a great opportunity for Lloyd to demonstrate his prowess at a Championship club.
“We hope he will showcase his talent and return to us a genuine prospect for first-team football next season.”
Owls head coach Stuart Gray, a one-time Saints boss, has been searching for a new winger ever since Royston Drenthe opted to move on from the Championship club at the end of December. He is currently without six senior players due to injury.
