Giant striker Atdhe Nuhiu has revealed his representatives have held discussions with Sheffield Wednesday’s hierarchy over extending his Hillsborough stay.

The 26-year-old, who has notched three goals in 12 appearances this season, will become a free agent next summer when his three-year contract is due to expire.

Nuhiu, standing at six foot six ins tall, insists he is loving life in South Yorkshire and has expressed a desire to remain with the Championship outfit.

“My agents have started the first discussions, but nothing is decided yet,” he confirmed.

“But my agents do a very good job and I trust them 100%.

“I would like another deal. We will see what happens but I say from heart that I am really enjoying it here.

“I love to play for this club and that’s no lie. My real fans out there know what it means to me because I wear this shirt with pride and passion.

“Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much you love the club but I am very optimistic that there will be some good things coming for us and I want to be a part of that.”

Former Rapid Vienna forward Nuhiu has netted 22 times in 102 appearances since joining the Owls on a free transfer. He is vying with Lucas Joao for a striking berth at Queens Park Rangers. Nuhiu registered, on debut, against tonight’s opponents just over two years ago.

“In the summer, the manager brought in players like Fernando Forestieri, Ross Wallace and Barry Bannan,” he said. “When you play with better players, then you become better yourself - and these three understand what I am all about and give me the good service I need to score goals.

“I am in a good way, although I would like to do better still. But if I only score five goals all season and we get promotion, then I will be the happiest man alive.”
