New Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal is urging supporters to be patient as he looks to strengthen his squad before the new Championship season.

Wednesday have so far brought in three new faces; defenders Darryl Lachman, Vincent Sasso and Jack Hunt.

And Carvalhal has indicated the Owls will be active in the transfer market as the 49-year-old Portuguese bids to assemble a squad capable of mounting a serious promotion push.

Carvalhal, who will officially be unveiled to the media at a press conference at Hillsborough at 2pm tomorrow, said: “We start with good players but, of course, we need more players.

“There are a lot of games in the Championship. It is a very hard competition.

“We will try to do good business. We must be alert to all opportunities and try to attract the best players to play attractive football. This will take some time and patience. We can’t do it in one or two days, but we are working on it.”

It is understood the Owls remain hopeful of signing free agent Ross Wallace. The left-sided player, who started his career at Celtic, was released by Burnley following their relegation last season.

A number of players continue to get linked with Wednesday, including Rio Ave left-back Tiago Pinto, former Wigan Athletic and Cardiff City midfielder Kim Bo-Kyung and Nacional Madeira striker Marco Matias.
