Stuart Gray is in the mood to spoil a party this morning.
Gray takes his Wednesday side to Watford this lunchtime with the Hornets looking to add the Championship title to the top flight promotion secured last week.
Rather than joining in with the inevitable party atmosphere at Vicarage Road, the Owls head coach wants his men to be spoilers.
“They will want to go up as champions and we’ve got to stop them from doing that,” Gray said. “We’ll have a say.
“We’re not an easy touch away from home.
“We’ll be playing on a good surface and we really want a positive response after the disappointing performance against Leeds.
“It’s a great game for us to finish a long old season on and we’re looking forward to it.
“I’m sure it’ll be a good atmosphere but we can’t get involved in that. We can only focus on what we can do.”
A win for Watford will see them lift the title as they sit one point ahead of Bournemouth, who would be top themselves had they not been held to a draw by Wednesday a fortnight ago.
Gray said: “We’ve probably performed better against the bigger teams away from home.
“We just keep going to the final whistle which is what I’ve instilled in my players.
“We saw that against Bournemouth. When Caolan Lavery missed the chance to make it 2-2 we knew we’d still got the self-belief to get something from the game.”
