The initiative, launched last Saturday, enables supporters to purchase season tickets for up to the next three campaigns for a fixed price. It gives Wednesdayites the opportunity to pay a fixed price for the next three seasons, regardless of what division the club are playing in. The average price of a season ticket actually reduces to correspond with the number of seasons with which supporters make their purchase.

Wednesday, currently seventh in the Championship, two points off the play-off zone, have also unveiled a new price band for those aged 21-24, set between concession and adult rates.

All junior prices have been frozen and rates for the Kids’ Zone area of the grandstand have been reduced by 50 per cent when purchased with an adult season ticket.

The project will run until February 1 with guaranteed savings ahead of further sales dates later in the year.

Wilson said the scheme has captured the imagination of Wednesdayites.

“The launch has gone really well,” he told The Star. “Our phones have been ringing non-stop.

“There has been a lot of people signing up, particularly for the one and three-year deal options.

“We wanted to offer fixed prices for up to three years and make them as attractive as possible.

“If you are in a position where you can buy a season ticket for two to three years, we certainly advise you get on board before the window closes.”

It was Wilson who came up with the idea of launching the season ticket transfer window to coincide with the January transfer market.

“Our first phase of sale traditionally lasts just over a month,” he said. “In March last year, we sold 11,800 season tickets so hopefully we will exceed that figure this year.

“We thought about how we could replicate certain aspects of the transfer window. It is just a bit of fun and a way for us to engage even more with the fans.

“When they come in to sign up for a deal, they can have their picture taken to join the campaign and are made to feel like our new signings.

“Over 20 per cent of our early sales are from new season ticket holders. If we can maintain and then increase that number throughout the window, we would be delighted.”

Supporters can spread the cost of their advanced saver tickets with ten month finance options. For full details on the pricing structure, visit http://www.swfc.co.uk
