Sam Hutchinson is optimistic Sheffield Wednesday are perfectly equipped to sustain their challenge for promotion.

Carlos Carvalhal’s troops sit in seventh position, just two points off the Championship play-off places following three victories from their last four outings.

Over the last 24 hours, the Owls have been linked heavily with moves for forwards Alan Judge and Nick Blackman.

Nonetheless, Hutchinson, who pulled out of Saturday’s success at Fulham during the warm-up, is adamant they already possess the quality to keep pace with the top six.

“I expected this season personally that I’m having and for us to get in the play-offs with the people we’ve brought in,” he told The Star. “Why not aim to do it?

“We’ve been around seventh for most of the season now. We’ve been unlucky in certain games. We’ve definitely got the squad to do it.”

Hutchinson is battling to shake off his back/groin injuries ahead of Saturday’s clash against Fulham.
