Carlos Carvalhal, the Sheffield Wednesday head coach, has expressed his delight over how his new-look side are gelling ahead of the 2015/16 Championship season.
The Owls have been busy in the transfer market over the summer, recruiting eight new players, with six of them taking part in their pre-season friendly at Ilkeston in midweek.
While he is pleased with the progress they have made, Carvalhal has confirmed he plans to bring in more reinforcements, reiterating his desire to have two players fighting it out for each position.
“I’m happy with how all the players have settled in,” Carvalhal told The Star.
“We want to bring in more British players. We need players who have experience at Championship level.”
Keiren Westwood, named in the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Championship Team of the Year last season, is set to miss tomorrow’s warm-up match at York. The goalkeeper recently picked up a shoulder problem in training and has sat-out their opening two friendlies.
