Worksop Town boss thanks Sheffield United after young keeper provides bright spark in Bassetlaw derby

He believes they did enough to create opportunities to score the goals that would have put the game beyond their Bassetlaw rivals.

“I’m very disappointed we didn’t get the three points to be fair,” he said.

“We had the lion’s share of chances, probably the better chances.

“We created very clear cut chances considering the weather conditions were very bad and the pitch wasn’t great.

“I thought we should have won the game, it’s very disappointing that we conceded two and very disappointing we didn’t score more than two.”

One bright spark for the visitors was the performance of a young man making his debut for the club.

Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale stepped in to replace the suspended Jon Kennedy, and Shaw was impressed.

“Well Sheffield United have done us a massive favour,” he said.

“I’ve got to thank Travis Binnion and Jamie Anderson and Sheffield United for letting us borrow their keeper, one of their young lads who is coming through the ranks.

“He’s got a bright future ahead of him. We threw him in at the deep end and he did really well considering he doesn’t know the team.’
