Sheffield United centre-forward Conor Sammon has admitted ‘actions will speak louder than words’ against League One leaders Burton Albion tonight.

United will move to within two points of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side if they prevail at the Pirelli Stadium after dispatching Doncaster Rovers last weekend.

Sammon, who scored his third goal of the season during that 3-1 victory, told The Star: “It’s easy to talk about how good you are and what you want to do. Ultimately, though, it all boils down to what happens on a Saturday and a Tuesday.

“We’ve got a huge amount of self-belief in ourselves and the support we get from the manager is incredible with regards to how he wants us to play. That, trust me, is absolutely crucial. We’re enjoying our football and we’re creating lots of chances and we’ll be doing everything we can to try and build on that.”

Sammon admitted it “felt great” to score his first goal at Bramall Lane since arriving on loan from Derby County.

“We know how hard we’ve got to work,” Sammon added. “Sheffield United, with its size, stadium and fan base, is one of the biggest names in this division and I know how hard opponents try when they play one of the bigger names.

“So what we’ve got to do is match that and keep working even harder. There’s great competition for places here.”
