FA Cup goal hero Ryan Flynn believes Sheffield United can build up some valuable momentun going into the Christmas period, as they prepare for a rare run of games at Bramall Lane.

Six of United’s next seven games, in all competitions, are at home after Flynn’s brace against Crewe on Tuesday night set up a second-round FA Cup tie at home to Plymouth Argyle.

And the Scottish winger said: “Everyone here is focused on getting promotion, but we take the cup competitions very seriously, too, and want to see where that takes us.

“We’ve got a lot of home games coming up now which hopefully we can win and build up some momemtum, especially going into the hectic Christmas period.

“It won’t be easy, of course, and we aren’t taking any games for granted... Oldham are doing really well, and Notts County will be tough, too.

“But we’ll be backed by a big crowd at Bramall Lane, as we usually are, and we’ll look to take the game to them.

“We’ve been doing that more consistently of late, and I feel that we are going to stick a few goals past a team sooner rather than later.”

Flynn was in imperious form on Tuesday as United, who reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup last season, successfully negotiated their passage into the second round.

“I feel like we’re slowly getting back to the form of last season,” Flynn added.

“It’s a long season so form is bound to come and go, but we’ve got a good squad here to cope.

“It’s important to keep the work rate up and be confident that form will come back.”
