Manager Chris Wilder has warned Sheffield United risk undoing all the good work they have achieved in recent seasons if the club becomes complacent this summer.
Wilder, whose side were in contention for the play-offs until the penultimate match of the Championship campaign, made the admission as he plans his summer recruitment drive.
“We can’t stand still,” he said. “Because if we do that then we’ll move backwards. I don’t want that to happen.”
United had spent five years in League One before Wilder led them to promotion at the first time of asking after taking charge in 2016. They enter Sunday’s game against Bristol City, the final match of the season, ranked 11th.
“We’ve got drive forward,” he said, “Because others will.”
