Stefan Scougall and Neill Collins will be given until the last possible moment to prove their fitness for today’s League One fixture against Blackpool, writes James Shield.
The Sheffield United duo have been undergoing intensive treatment since being withdrawn during the first-half of Tuesday’s victory over Peterborough.
Adkins, who earlier this month acknowledged he can be intentionally opaque when it comes to publicly discussing selection issues, told The Star: “Scougall has had a couple of stitches in a gashed ankle, which is quite swollen. Obviously, he will be a doubt for the weekend.
“Neill Collins came off the other day feeling his calf as well, so he will be a doubt as well.”
Blackpool head east hoping to record their first league victory in the competition this season.
Neil McDonald, who took charge at Bloomfield Road in June, said: “The league is going to be difficult. In the three games we’ve played so far we’ve only managed to take a point, so we are under pressure.
“We’ve put ourselves under pressure. We should have beaten Colchester, taken a point against Rochdale and won against Burton – but should and could are very big words.
“I’ll probably make some changes for Sheffield on Saturday, I’d imagine.”
