Since Tigers boss Mark Shaw asked the rest of the league to ‘step up’ and take points from Chorley, the previous runaway leaders have gone on a real slide.
Shaw’s comments, on 20th February, were followed by a slump in form that has seen the Magpies win just twice in nine outings.
This week Shaw said the Lancashire side will need to recover quickly if they’re to win the title, and fellow leaders FC United can’t afford to change their mindset.
“Chorley have got to pick themselves up, they’re having the slump that we had in January,” he said.
“FC United have done a lot of chasing, and if their mentality changes it might be to their detriment, and people might go there with more grit.”
