Mark Shaw has asked Tigers fans to be patient, as he continues to build a side that he says will get better as the season goes on.

The manager added two more youngsters to his team for last week’s FA Cup game, namely left-back Connor Smythe and striker Mitch Husbands.

Husbands is known to Worksop fans, having featured in the early part of last season.

Shaw believes he can be a prolific force.

“We wanted a difference in the strikers,” he said.

“Mitch has worked with me in the past, he’s a good talent. He’ll get in the goals and helped create.”

Smythe is a player who impressed Shaw in pre-season, after being released by Scunthorpe.

But the defender opted to try his luck elsewhere, before returning to Sandy Lane last week.

Shaw said: “He didn’t listen to me in the first place, he chased Boston and Lincoln United and neither of them came off.”

“We’re still here with open arms to welcome him. He’s a good player, he’ll just need to bed in.”

“We’re still in the building process and the growing process.”

“These players will get better as we go along.”

“We can’t get ahead of ourselves and start saying we’re going to win things, we have to be patient.”
