Worksop Town are sitting pretty at the top of the table, and all the pressure is on Saturday’s visitors – fellow title hopefuls Shaw Lane Aquaforce.
That’s the message from Tigers boss Mark Shaw this week, after watching his men stretch their unbeaten run to 10 games in the league.
Shaw Lane are 10 points behind Worksop, but have six games in hand, giving Saturday’s Sandy Lane clash the potential to be season defining.
It’s a must win game, for the Barnsley team, says Shaw: “It’s a pressure situation for them, they’ve got to come and win.”
“We’re top, we’ve earned that right and we’ve got points on the table.”
“Even if they beat us they’ve got to win their games in hand, they’ve a lot of games to play.”
Regardless of who feels the pressure to perform, a fascinating contest is in the offing.
The sides have scored a staggering 193 league goals between them, and hold the joint best goal difference in the NCEL Premier.
