Tigers beat Albion Sports 3-2, the winning goal coming from the head of local striker Matt Booth who bagged a brace.

Shaw said: “I just turned to the players and said it was nice to finish with a win. We didn’t start the season at home with a win so good to end like that.

“It was a bit of a nothing game first half, they came out and had a little go after the break and we were quite resilient.

“It was nice to see them finish it off like that, Matt Booth coming on and scoring twice.

“Obviously local lad, local hero, it’s great, people want to see the local players playing and we’ve got a few.”

Worksop will finish in the top five for the third season running under Shaw, and he’s out to make sure that happens again next season.

He said: “I hope it gives the supporters something they can start building on for next year, the club will finish in the top five again.

“Even though we’ve had all the problems, we’re still competing and developing players who progress onto better things.

“We’re a football club that has so much going for it, we just need people to get behind the 1861 scheme, the ideas, we’ve got to make it work for ourselves.”
