Shaw blasts Nuneaton, says Elliott should stop training with them

Tigers agreed to sell the youngster to the Boro more than three weeks ago, but are still yet to receive a penny.

And Elliott, who is still contracted to Worksop, has been seen warming up before games with the club he’s due to join.

Shaw is furious that he’s been denied the 20-year-old’s services since 31st January, when he played his last game for Tigers before the club announced his departure.

He said: “Worksop Town completed its business nearly a month ago and I would have expected Tom to have left the club by now.

“We’ve done everything we said we would do and at the moment I can’t understand why the deal can’t be completed.

“He shouldn’t be training with Nuneaton, or doing warm ups, he shouldn’t be interacting with them in any capacity.

“If he gets injured doing that, in a worst case scenario, he could ruin his career and ruin our chances of getting what will be a small fee for him.”

Shaw has expressed his concerns to his chairman Kev Keep, and hopes Tigers will issue a deadline to Nuneaton.

“I had a long conversation with the chairman and he assured me he would start making some deadlines with regards to how long it will take,” he said.

“I think he’s a bit upset because he feels people are looking at him as if it’s his fault, but it’s completely not, it’s 100 per cent Nuneaton.

“They’ve been telling people the deal is done, they’re just waiting on this or that, but then they go and sign another player before sorting Tom’s deal out.

“I want to know what’s happening, we’ve not had Tom for a month’s worth of games.”

The manager insists Carlton-in-Lindrick lad Elliott should return to Worksop until the transfer is complete.

“Tom should be playing for Worksop Town until he’s a Nuneaton player,” he told the Guardian.

“If he doesn’t want to play for the club that’s another story, but at the moment he should be fulfilling Worksop Town commitments that are in his contract.”

Nuneaton are yet to comment publically on the reason for the delay, but this week one of their players – Worksop born Elliot Whitehouse – stated on social media that he had not been paid on time for the last three months.
