Schoolboys’ Premier futsal experience

THE Premier League Futsal Festival in Birmingham proved to be a great experience for Bassetlaw’s schoolboy footballers.

Although they were unable to bring home the trophy, Bassetlaw mustered wins over Loughborough, Bootle, Plymouth B and Bath B and draws against Plymouth A, Orpington and West Wiltshire in a strenuous non-stop event.

Jack Tarr told the Guardian: “The opportunity to work in the purpose built arena, to meet boys from all over the country and become fully familiar with the skills needed for the growing game of Futsal will serve them well for years to come.”

On Saturday the boys return to action with a visit to East Riding, the largest association by area in the country.

The game will be played at the Blackburn Aircraft Social Club in Brough and transport will be by mini-bus leaving the Worksop Priory Car Park at 8.45am prompt.

The invited squad is: Regan Watkinson (St Augustine’s); Ryan Dixon, Lewis Comley (Redlands); George Atkinson (Clarborough); Adam Duffy, Kieron Hooley (Kingston Park); Finn Sweetnam (Holy Family); Josh Robson (Bracken Lane); Liam Frost, Josh Hooton (Sir Edmund Hillary); Luke Smith (Norbridge); Jay Smith (Carr Hill) and Jack Wilson (Harworth CE). Staff: Messrs Pressley, Tarr.
