Ryton Park lift Guardian Shield with final victory

The Division Two winners were victorious in a close encounter with Division Three’s St Anne’s.

Despite oozing with confidence after their demolition of holders Carr Hill from Division One, St Anne’s found themselves outplayed and outrun by much smaller opposition.

Organised by managers Jeremy Cordall and Mary Paton, Ryton Park swept into a two goal interval lead with goals from Malachi Bradford and McKenzie Day.

The second half saw a different St.Anne’s and it came as no surprise when their pressure paid off with equalising goals from Riley Garfitt and Ethan Hibbert.

With extra time a likely probability it was Ryton Park however who struck a late winner from McKenzie Day.

Ryton Park now have the opportunity to make it a first time double for Bassetlaw when their girls play in the final of the Girls Champion of Champions tournament after defeating Norbridge.

Norbridge’s unbeaten run came to an end when they they were completely outplayed by Ryton Park yet managed to cause the opposition some anxious moments as the result of a brilliant goalkeeping performance by Kofie Adams and two excellent opportunist goals from Chloe Rose.

Jess Hooley (2), Maisie Wallis and Chantelle Linley eventually sealed the match for Ryton, who now face the winners of Prospect Hill and Leverton.

Ranskill won the first of their two finals against Everton when Kyle Simpson and Elliott Crowe were on target in the Middle Divisions Cup final and the two will meet again in the final of the Small Schools Champion of Champions.

Both finals were played on the excellent facilities provided by Harworth Colliery F.C. and admirably refereed by Sean Donnelly and son Harry.
