Real put pressure on as FS Clumber slip

There was a mixture of Gainsborough and District Sunday Football League and cup games at the weekend with four ties in the Presidents Cup and games spread over the four divisions of the League, 15 games in total producing 94 goals.

In the Presidents Cup BFC Birches beat Horse and Jockey 9-1 while Moorends Social Club overcame a spirited Stanwood Engineering 10-4.

Beckett Arms went down 3-0 to Tuxford Working Men’s Club and North Wheatley Phoenix advanced to the next round after a 4-1 win against Harworth Pavilion.

In the Premier League leaders FS Clumber had to rely on a very late goal to snatch a 1-1 draw at Kings Arms, while the biggest winners of the day were Clumber EFC who beat Ranby Rangers 12-0.

Real Ropery are the nearest challengers in the division to FS Clumber and they gave a totally dominating performance at MUSC, winning 7-1.

Mattersey gave a real battling performance to defeat third in the table Vine Inn Athletic by the only goal of the game.

In Division one Canutes advanced their league position to fourth in the table after a 6-1 home win over Kings Arms Reserves.

In Division Two White Horse have moved one point clear of rivals for the title, Moorends Social Club, with a 4-1 home win against Gate Inn Sutton.

Ingleby Arms beat Cross Keys Wroot 5-1, while Misterton United continued their recent improvement with a 6-0 home win over Clarborough FC.

The big game of the day in Division Three saw Walkeringham FC convincingly beat King and Miller 6-1.

BRSA had a convincing 5-1 win against Peacock Veterans, while The Vine Inn FC battled hard for their 2-1 win against Owston Ferry SC.
