Radford joined Worksop from former Northern Counties East League rivals Maltby Main this summer and has confessed his excitement to get underway for Craig Parry’s new-look side.

Radford has previously played at Sandy Lane before with Handsworth Parramore, which is where he built his reputation as a likeable character with the Worksop supporters.

“It was an amazing feeling to be asked to come and join Worksop Town,” said Radford. “It is such a big club with a vast history.

“The management team have been brought in for a reason, they are all winners and the caliber of players that they have brought in is amazing and to be in and around some of these players is a joy for me.

“It is going to be a very new experience for me. To say that the status of the club is semi-professional, Craig [Parry] has instilled a professional attitude and that is one of the reasons as to why I have joined the club this year.

“Pete [Whitehead] has left the squad building to the management and that is how I think it should be, but the work that has gone on looks great.

“I am absolutely buzzing to get going. The standards are second to none, aren’t they? With the pitch, we are going to have the best facilities around and as players, that is what we want to play on if I am honest.”

Radford is a bubbly character who is an important figure in the cohesion of the squad. His enjoyable antics is what will help a fresh squad gel together quickly, in order to get the side to play at their optimum going into the season.

The former Doncaster Rovers defender believes a good squad harmony is important.

“It is always good to have a good dressing room,” stressed Radford.

“You need to have a good dressing room and that is a big part when playing non-league football for me.

“I have always been part of a good dressing room, it is always good to have a laugh and you find that having a good squad harmony helps on the pitch as well.

“We are all here to win, we are all winners at the end of the day.”
