SHEFFIELD Wednesday are the first confirmed pre-season opponents for Worksop Town.
Tigers boss Martin McIntosh told the Guardian today that his Tigers side will host Gary Megson’s League One outfit on 16th July at the Windsor Food Service Stadium, formerly known as Sandy Lane.
“That one is confirmed, and we’re hoping to have more on another home game in the next week or so,” he said.
Worksop Town are expected to play their home games back in the town at the Babbage Way ground next season, but are yet to sign a deal with the new leaseholder Peter Whitehead, although he has made clear his intentions to host Tigers on the ground they were locked out of in 2008 by former leaseholders 1861 Leisure.
Whitehead told the Guardian last week that he was hoping to ink a deal with Tigers owner Jason Clark within a matter of days.
