The young striker, signed earlier this season from Carlton, has been doing everything right up front for Tigers – except for scoring.

But on Wednesday night with just a few minutes left in the FA Trophy tie against Radcliffe Borough, he nipped in to meet a Luke Sharry cross and net his second goal in the colours of Worksop.

Speaking to the Guardian he admitted it was the boost he needed.

“After six or seven games without scoring I’m more than happy tonight,” he said.

“Me not scoring has been affecting my performance in games.”

“It might look like I’m not interested but my confidence needed a lift.”

“Now that I’ve scored my confidence is back up there.”

The 21-year-old believes he’s now growing accustomed to the Evo-Stik Premier and insists the dressing room morale at Sandy Lane is sky high.

“When I first signed I thought it would be easy, but I’ve realised it’s more about fitness at this level.”

“Teams try to pass the ball more, it’s more of a team game, I was an individual player at Carlton.”

“Hopefully I can keep scoring now, and hopefully we can keep this run going.”

“Clarky (boss Simon Clark) and Frecks (Dave Frecklington, assistant manager) have come in and we’ve not lost in nine, that says it all really.”

“The confidence is oozing and we feel like we can’t be beaten.”
