Nottingham Forest blog: When will we see Andy Reid back?

Since leaving the field of play through injury way back in September 2014, Andy Reid has had numerous setbacks.

Many are now asking if we’ll ever see him in a Forest shirt again?

Originally he was expected to return within a couple of months, but it’s looking like Chris Cohen will be back before him.

Cohen suffered another horrific cruciate ligament injury in the very same match versus Derby.

There has been an element of mystery surrounding Reid’s absence, with some wild theories being concocted on social media forums.

I read a few of them and challenged the accusers about their accusations.

Eventually getting the same response, “well that’s I’ve heard”; admitting that there was no truth behind the rumours at all.

I have since left these so called supporters groups, where it seems that the ones with the most to say are never at the games themselves!

The most plausible account that I’ve heard is that the Irishman’s injury was initially misdiagnosed and the physiotherapy that followed was basically pointless.

Whatever happens we just want to see him back in the first team. Since that fateful day against Derby it’s fair to say that the quality of the Forest midfield has never been the same.

Reid is joined on the sidelines by Cohen, Fryatt and Brit Assombalonga, and the way it’s going you wouldn’t bet against all of the others returning before the Dubliner.

To be honest, when Reid stepped out for the U21s recently most fans thought that a league return was not far away.

However, it now looks like it could be after Christmas......which year though?

Forest are just doing enough without the missing players, a hard fought draw away at Huddersfield in midweek was proof of that.

The Yorkshire side bossed Forest in the early stages but Mendes put us ahead with his first goal for the club, following a great assist from man of the moment Eric Lichaj.

Once again the curse of a late goal struck, from the boot of Emyr Huws. Ironically we could have been 2-0 up when Chris Burke hit the post.

Having led the game I would never have brought on Walker, you need somebody to hold the ball in the final third to protect a lead and unfortunately that is certainly not one of his strengths.

Next up is Hull City at home, and a visit from a rather special supporter. Be sure to read next week’s blog about a man from Atlanta.....known as “BIG WES!”
