No pressure says skipper

Worksop skipper Leon Mettam says his side are under no pressure ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third qualifying round trip to Solihull Moors.

The Conference North side are flying, with a Birmingham Senior Cup defeat the only blemish on their record this season.

Mettam said the onus is entirely on Moors to go through to the fourth qualifying round.

“There’s no pressure on us, no one expects us to beat them, they’re flying, unbeaten in the Conference North,” he said.

“But if we can play as well as we did at Stalybridge, and take our chances then we can surprise them.”

Mettam admits to dreaming of leading Tigers into the ‘proper’ rounds of the world famous competition.

“The FA Cup always brings a buzz,” he told the Guardian.

“It’s the best one you can play in and if you do well in it you can end up with a monster team.”

“Havant & Waterlooville got Liverpool a few years back, and you can’t do that in any other competition.”
