The Tigers parted company with Duncan Milligan after a 14-week spell that brought three wins and 14 defeats.

Director of football Keith Ilett says the club share the blame.

“It was probably half and half, we were probably 50 per cent to blame and he was 50 per cent to blame,” he said.

“I don’t think he had enough experience at this level, but we set him on.

“It didn’t work out as anyone thought it would work out.

“I don’t think he would have won the fans back but they didn’t push us to a decision.

“We wish him all the best.”

Ilett revealed that some ‘good’ candidates have thrown their hat in the ring, with Friday’s deadline looming.

What the club want is someone to buy into the club’s plans and get them out of the NCEL Premier League.

“We’re looking for a manager who will be here for a good while, get us out of this league and maintain above.

“We want someone with good experience and contacts, someone with their coaching badges.

“We want someone who fits into the project, it’s not just about the first team, it’s about the project.”

The project involves women’s football and junior football, with a familiar face returning to play a part.

“Ronnie Glavin (former manager) is going to be made head of footballing development,” said Ilett.

“We’re having a first team, a reserve side in the Central Midlands and 19s and 18s sides, one of which will be a scholarship side.

“Ronnie will be in charge of all that.

“Our ladies side won the league and went up into the pyramid, there will be another ladies team below them, then junior sides, the Wildcats from 12s and down.

“We’re building a base for the future and it will hopefully benefit the first team

“Paul Williams calls it an eight year project, I think the Conference North is possible, but that’s as far as Worksop Town can go, we’re not going down the sugar daddy route, the club has to sustain itself.”
