Natural progression key part of Worksop Town structure for manager Craig Parry

The restructure saw Luke Jeffs and Mark Whitehouse promoted to assistant manager and head coach respectively, whilst Jon Hood remains in his role as goalkeeping coach.

Parry has previously built his coaching staff based on players that he had either played with or managed over. This was something that Parry stressed was important when confirming his management team.

“I have always been one – and have been since starting in management – to promote people within that know how I work and want to work and how I see football,” said Parry.

“It is a natural progression for us, with Luke moving up to work as my assistant manager and Mark taking the reigns as head coach.

“It has always worked well for me in progressing people that I have played with and worked with from a management perspective.

“That natural progression is the one for me because they know exactly how I work and my personality. Some people may say that I am easy to work with, some might say I am difficult, but they will know how I work and what I want to achieve.

“I have always liked to promote within and work with people I trust, and I think it is vital that you have that trust there.

“I think the lads that I have around me currently, I 100% trust them with the work they do.”

Parry also explained his decision to make Jeffs his assistant at the Tigers, giving him his break into coaching as head coach at Pontefract Collieries and Worksop.

He continued: “We have known each other for many years, and he knows how I work from a football and a personal point of view.

“He is suited to maximise everything that we possibly can to get the best out of this football club and the footballers here to make a success of it.

“He has great qualities; I’ve seen them first-hand over the years as my head coach and it is just a natural fit to come and work alongside myself.

“He probably takes on a lot of duties like an assistant anyway day-to-day, so it’ll come more naturally.”
