Maltby search for new boss

The first team boss spent four years at the club, but his departure was confirmed by Main on Tuesday.

A club statement said: “Steve Adams has resigned his post for business and personal reasons.”

“The club have thanked him for his dedication to the club and his relentless efforts over the past four seasons.”

Adams kept the club in the NCEL Premier Division last season with a vital six-game unbeaten run towards the end of the campaign, staving off the threat of relegation.

Club secretary John Mills said he was disappointed to see Adams leave and shocked at the timing of the news, but paid tribute to the job he did at Muglet Lane.

“We didn’t know he was going and the timing could have been better,” said Mills.

“It was for personal reasons, he has a business to run and look after, so I can understand.”

“He did a brilliant job for us.”

Harrison hopes that Adams’ potential replacement will be able to fill his shoes.

“We want someone like Steve, a motivator. He was great with the players.”

Only two applications had been received by the club as the Dinnington Guardian went to print and a number of players are believed to have left in the wake of Adams’ exit.
